Fire breaks out at LIC office building in Mumbai

A fire broke out on the second floor of the LIC office building located in the Vile Parle area of Mumbai on Saturday.

As many as eight fire tenders have reached the spot and are dousing the flames. No causalities have been reported as of now.

As per fire officials, the fire was confined to electric wiring, installation, computers, file records, wooden furniture, etc. in the Salary Saving Scheme section on the second floor of the building.

“A fire broke out at around 6.40 a.m in the LIC’s Jeevan Seva building, Santacruz(W) which houses our SSS Divisional office. It was restricted to the 2nd floor of the building. Fire services have deployed fire brigades to arrest the fire and they are bringing it under control. There are no casualities or issues affecting personnel,”said LIC in a statement.

“The data center of the Corporation which is housed nearby is safe and precautionary measures have been taken to protect our IT assets. All our critical IT assets for providing service to customers have adequate Disaster Recovery set up in place. Hence, there would not be any problem with providing services to customers,” the statement added.
