By Abdul Basheer: Ek do theen chaar, desh ke neta KCR, chanted Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) workers as Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) held the party’s first public meeting in Khammam on Wednesday.
Presided by KCR, the meeting was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI General Secretary D Raja and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.
Addressing the gathering, KCR announced special funds for all gram panchayats and several municipalites in Khammam and also a new government engineering college and a new bridge over the Koneru river.
He said India is facing a peculiar situation and BRS will announce its national agenda soon.
“After 75 years of independence, India is still facing a drinking water crisis. The country is lacking aims and objectives. Only a few projects have been taken up. Tribunals have been constituted, but no action is taken on resolving water disputes,” said KCR, holding the BJP and Congress responsible for interstate water issues.

KCR also promised free power to farmers across the country if a ‘BRS-proposed government’ captures power at the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
“In two years, India will be made a power cut-free country if BRS comes to power. Farmers are dying, NPAs are increasing, free power should be given to them. Free power for all farmers in India if BRS comes to power,” KCR announced.
Schemes like Telangana’s Rythu Bandhu (for the welfare of farmers) should be implemented throughout the country and it is his party’s slogan and demand, he said.
“Our policy is nationalisation,” said KCR, promising ‘revival’ of LIC.

The BRS president further said, “IT and industrial development will be taken up. Make in India has become Joke in India. There is Make in India, but there are China bazaars in every street.”
KCR also vowed to scrap the Agnipath scheme for recruitment in armed forces if BRS is voted to power.
