A 60-year-old woman and her son were killed after their two-wheeler was hit by a car in North Delhi’s Burari, officers said Monday.

Police identified the victims as Shashi and her 24-year-old son Manoj, residents of Ghaziabad. Shashi’s 8-year-old grandson, who was sitting between her and Manoj on the bike, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said they received a PCR call on Sunday around 11.30 am that three persons on a motorcycle were mowed down by a Tata Bolero when they were coming from the Burari roundabout flyover.

Police said all three were shifted to a hospital. “Shashi and Manoj could not survive. The child is recovering,” said the DCP.

A case under IPC sections pertaining to causing death by negligence, causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others has been registered and the errant driver is currently absconding.

A senior officer said: “We are scanning CCTV footage around the area and are trying to get a clearer picture of the number plate of the vehicle… Manoj had a private job in the city.”
