US man allegedly kills wife, buys sex doll with her life insurance money: Report

NEW DELHI: On the morning of Halloween in 2019, Colby Trickle, a resident of Hays, Kansas, called 911 to report that his wife, Kristen Trickle, aged 26, had shot herself in their home. Sergeant Brandon Hauptman from the Hays Police Department responded to the call and, after speaking with Colby Trickle and examining the scene, became suspicious of Colby’s involvement in his wife’s death.
However, three days later, the coroner, Dr. Lyle Noordhoek, determined Kristen Trickle’s death to be a suicide, allowing Colby Trickle to continue with his life. Despite this, investigators persisted in their investigation of the case, reported CBS News.
Colby Trickle, a member of the Army Reserve, received payouts from two life insurance policies for his wife, totaling over $120,000. Investigators discovered that he spent nearly $2,000 on a life-size sex doll just two days after receiving the insurance money. Detective Joshua “JB” Burkholder expressed his concern to ’48 Hours’ correspondent Erin Moriarty, saying, “There’s a mourning process that I think everyone needs to go through — should go through when a loved one dies and to have him ordering this type of doll just months after his wife’s death was concerning.”
Delynn Rice, Kristen Trickle’s aunt, was appalled upon learning about the sex doll purchase, telling Moriarty, “I was just appalled that he would use Kristen’s life insurance money for a sex doll. It just was like he bought a replacement of her with her money.” According to Assistant Ellis County Attorney Aaron Cunningham, Colby Trickle spent the entire $120,000 insurance payout within approximately eight months, not only on the life-size sex doll but also on video games, debt repayment, and music equipment to pursue his aspirations of becoming a performer.
Colby Trickle remained free for nearly two years as investigators built a case against him. Sergeant Hauptman shared his observations about Colby Trickle’s behavior immediately after reporting Kristen Trickle’s self-inflicted gunshot wound. Although Colby appeared to be grieving, Hauptman noted unusual aspects of the scene, such as Kristen being found wearing only underwear and the gun seeming too large for her to have used.
Hauptman also mentioned that while it does occur, it is uncommon for women to complete a suicide that results in facial injuries.
Another suspicious detail for the police was Kristen Trickle’s phone alarm, which kept going off at the scene that morning. Burkholder recalled silencing it, stating, “She had set an alarm to get up, to get ready for work, and had plans for that day. A lot of times, individuals who are thinking about suicide and do commit suicide, they don’t have any plans for the day. They’re not setting alarms. It doesn’t matter when they get up.”
Colby Trickle willingly spoke with investigators on multiple occasions without legal representation, sharing detailed accounts of his alleged military intelligence work and deployments to the Middle East and Central America. However, when investigators inquired with the military, they were informed that Colby Trickle had never been deployed overseas or outside the country. These lies, combined with the inconsistencies at the scene, heightened investigators’ suspicions about Colby Trickle’s version of events surrounding Kristen Trickle’s death.
On July 14, 2021, 21 months after Kristen Trickle’s death, Colby Trickle was charged with first-degree murder and interfering with law enforcement. During his trial in September 2023, prosecutors presented evidence of Colby Trickle’s sex doll purchase to the jury.
Tina Kreutzer, Colby Trickle’s mother, testified as a defense witness, claiming that her son was experiencing nightmares and sleep difficulties following his wife’s death and that the doll was intended for warmth and comfort rather than sexual purposes.
Brant Rice, Kristen Trickle’s uncle, expressed his disgust

6 arrested in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district for killing man to claim insurance money

A woman among six people were arrested in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district for their involvement in the murder of a man who was allegedly killed on June 19. According to the police, the main accused, on whose name an insurance was to be issued, got the man killed in order to fake his own death.

The arrested were identified as Gurpreet Singh, his wife Khushdeep Kaur and their accomplices Sukhwinder Singh, Jaspal Singh, Dinesh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar Sharma.

Fatehgarh Sahib Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Ravjot Kaur Grewal said that on June 19, the victim, Sukhjeet Singh, a resident of Sanipur village, had gone missing following which, his wife and parents lodged a complaint with the police. The SSP added, “During the search, his motorcycle, mobile phone and slippers were found near the Sirhind canal, pointing at a possible suicide.”

Grewal further said, “During the course of investigation, we found out that a person named Gurpreet Singh, who was suspected to be with Sukhjeet on the day of his disappearance, had died in an accident near Basantpura in Rajpura town. Although an FIR was lodged under Section 304-A (death due to negligence) at Rajpura (sadar) police station on June 20, his body was hastily cremated and the ashes disposed of. This raised suspicion.”

The SSP added, “A team led by Deputy SP Gurbans Singh started questioning Gurpreet’s family members who finally revealed that they killed Sukhjeet.”

“Gurpreet was under huge debt as had suffered losses in his business. He ran a franchise of a food chain but his business failed. To repay the loans, Gurpreet and his wife along with their accomplices hatched a plan to stage Gurpreet’s death in order to claim life insurance and accident insurance benefits,” Grewal said.

The SSP disclosed that during the investigation, it came to light that Gurpreet first bought a life insurance and accidental insurance policies worth Rs 4 crore and paid the first instalments. After paying the first instalment, Gurpreet befriended Sukhjeet and hatched a plan with the others to murder him.

The SSP further said, “On June 19, the accused offered Sukhjeet drinks mixed with 30 mg Morphine tablets, rendering him unconscious. Subsequently, they transported him in a car, changed his clothes and placed his body on the slip road near Basantpura in Rajpura. To ensure that the body is hard to identify, they intentionally crushed it with a truck, causing extensive facial damage. A hit-and-run case was registered where Sukhjeet was falsely identified as Gurmeet and the body was cremated.”

The police seized a bike, a truck and a car which were used by the culprits to commit the crime. An FIR under Section 346 (wrongful confinement in secret) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Sirhind police station.

3 men chase, stab 19-year-old to death in public in Delhi | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: The teenager who was chased and knifed to death in public view on Saturday, had just stepped out of his house for a walk, his family said.
Around 6.30pm, the victim, Manish, has left his home in G block, Sunder Nagri, when he was waylaid by the three accused, who live a few blocks away in the northeast Delhi locality.
One of the attackers pushed him and the others started stabbing him, police said. He tried to escape, but the accused had grabbed his collar and stabbed him relentlessly till he fell to the ground.
The accused were identified as Alam, Faizan and Bilal. Police have ruled out any communal angle in the crime.
CCTV footage of the exposes the cold apathy of the capital’s residents. The clip shows onlookers watching the violence while no one comes to the victim’s aid. One man is seen sitting on a chair and the other on a bike, but motionless during the stabbing. A few people are seen running away from the spot.
Speaking to TOI, Manish’s mother Mithilesh said she was at home when the three accused came to her lane and started shouting: “We have killed your son. Go and pick his body.” “I ran to the spot, a few metres from my house, and saw my son lying in a pool of blood,” Mithilesh said, her clothes stained red with the blood of her son.
He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead. She said Manish was stabbed in the chest, stomach, neck, face and other parts of the body.
Deputy commissioner of police (northeast) Sanjay Sain said there was no communal angle in the case and it was a fallout of a personal enmity which started last year. “Last year, Manish was attacked and stabbed by Mohsin and Shakir, two accomplices of the accused youths. Both were arrested in the case, which was filed by the Manish’s family. Manish also knew the accused well. He had said that the accused were using threats to try and get him to withdraw the case. All three accused were arrested from Nand Nagri area.”
Sher Singh, Manish’s uncle, said last year Mohsin and Shakir stabbed the victim on his chest, neck, and stomach when he had resisted their bid to snatch his mobile phone. According to police, the case under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) was registered on June 26, 2021, on the complaint of Mithilesh. Earlier in the week, on September 28, Manish and his mother had attended the hearing on the matter, and the next date was set for October 6.
The police said there is a strong possibility that the hit on Manish was ordered from jail by Mohsin and Shakir. “Someone known to the accused had visited the jail and informed them that Manish was not willing to withdraw the case, so they ordered their associates to kill him. They too may be booked in the murder case. We have launched an investigation to unravel the conspiracy,” the officer said.
This was at least the third case of murder committed in full public view in the last few months. In August, a 25-year-old hotel management graduate was chased and stabbed to death by a group of men at a busy market in south Delhi’s Begumpur. In June, a 28-year-old man was knifed to death by two brothers in north Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar, as onlookers watched passively.
