Arvind Kejriwal, Pinarayi Vijayan, Akhilesh Yadav by his side, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao targets BJP | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao succeeded on Wednesday in getting top politicians from three regional parties, including three chief ministers, to share a stage with him at a public meeting in Khammam.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann came together with Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav and CPI national general secretary D Raja in front of a massive audience.
BRS leaders termed the meeting a game-changer in the country’s politics as no party leader had held such a massive rally with other party leaders in tow in recent years. Although still early days, many in BRS are hoping that the Khammam public meeting will help other parties and leaders come closer to BRS ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
For the past four years, KCR has been working on a non-Congress, non-BJP alliance of regional parties. In the past couple of years, he has met several CMs and former CMs, including TMC’s Mamata Banerjee, DMK’s M K Stalin, Hemant Soren, Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. Although not present at Khammam, former Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy has been a regular face at key BRS events.
KCR and the other leaders in their speeches gave an indication of the issues the alliance would raise. Despite the ongoing debate on freebies hurting the economy, KCR promised free power to all farmers across the country within two years of forming government.
Both Kejriwal and Mann spoke about how governors were being used by the Centre to unsettle non-BJP state governments and the manner in which central investigation agencies were being “misused” to target the opposition.
KCR in his speech charged successive governments at the Centre with failing to address various issues, especially those related to power, water and settling inter-state disputes. Around 150 retired bureaucrats and experts working on schemes and drafts are ready, he stated.
He declared that BRS’ journey would continue with like-minded parties in the future, especially with the Communist parties. He also said if his coalition forms government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it would scrap the Agnipath scheme. “Modi’s slogan is the government has no business to do business, but my slogan is government has every business to do business wherever required,” KCR said.
He declared that if PSUs like LIC are sold, a BRS-supported government at Centre would bring them back to government. The same would be the case with Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, he said. “The country has 70,000 tmcft of water and 1.40 lakh MW of power, but we cannot provide free power to agriculture sector and provide drinking water to every household,” he added.

IAS Pooja Singhal, who is in charge of the mining department of the Jharkhand government, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case, officials told India Today TV.

Singhal has been summoned to the ED’s Ranchi office for questioning on Tuesday, May 10. The Election Commission (EC) recently served Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren with a notice for allegedly granting himself a mining licence.

Singhal’s husband, Abhishek Jha, has been questioned by the ED on Sunday and Monday. The ED had raided the official and residential premises of Pooja Singhal on Friday in connection with a corruption case in the state.

The officials had recovered Rs 17.49 crore in cash from the premises of Singhal’s chartered accountant (CA), Suman Kumar, who is now in their custody.

According to the Enforcement Directorate, IAS Pooja Singhal and her husband received cash deposits totaling Rs 1.43 crore when she was charged with irregularities while serving as District Magistrate (DM) in various districts across the state.

The ED also informed a Ranchi special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court that the IAS officer spent the money on life insurance policies. The ED alleged that certain suspicious transactions were made between the IAS officer, her CA, and certain companies.

The ED is also looking into whether Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren granted himself a mining lease. Pooja Singhal is the mining and geology secretary for the state of Jharkhand.

An ED officer had said that incriminating documents were also seized from the IAS officer’s home during the searches. Meanwhile, the Election Commission recently served Hemant Soren with a notice seeking clarification on his stance on the mining licence controversy.
